Airlines
Air New Zealand is our national carrier, flying in from almost anywhere in the world. If they don’t fly direct from your location, they’ll code-share to get you here! Auckland is our main international airport, although Christchurch has a few international routes too.
Jet Lag Survival Tips
You’ve spent months planning, packing, and saying your goodbyes. Now, you’re on the plane, emotions running high, heading into a whole new adventure! Look after yourself on the journey.
- Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water (yes, even when they offer wine!).
- Move around – stretch, wander the cabin, do some ankle circles.
- Adjust to NZ time ASAP – reset your watch and try to eat/sleep on local time.
When you land, fresh air and daylight will help your body clock adjust.
Biosecurity and Arrival
Before landing, you’ll fill out a NZ Traveller Declaration (via app, online, or on the paper form handed out on board). Along with your passport, this is your ticket to stepping through the arrival gates. Almost there!
New Zealand is serious about protecting its land, wildlife, and food sources. That means strict biosecurity rules.
Make sure your hiking boots are clean and packed close to the top of your bag in case you’re asked for an inspection. Leave all food onboard the plane. Double check your cabin bag for rogue bananas or risk a hefty fine!
Once you’re through, take a deep breath. Welcome to New Zealand!
Airport Transfers
We know you’ll be excited to get to your new town, but trust us—this is the perfect time to pause and recharge.
We’ll have a car meet you at the airport and take you to your first night’s accommodation. You can shower off the long haul flight, eat something fresh, stretch your legs and get some proper rest.
You’ll wake up refreshed, ready to take on the next leg of your journey with a clear head.
Bringing Pets
Pets are undeniably a part of the family so find out what’s involved if you are seriously considering bringing them to NZ. Proof of ownership and quarantine will be required, among other things, so check out the step-by-step guide.
Logistics and Shipping
Deciding what to bring (and what to leave behind) is both a mental and emotional exercise. NZ is well resourced—you’ll find everything you need here—but sometimes, special items from home just feel right. Shipping agencies like Transworld and Crown Worldwide can help get your things here safely. Sentimental items? If it matters to you, bring it. You’ll thank yourself later!
